Tubing in Boulder

August 2, 2007

Uhhh... Will?
An afternoon
in Boulder Creek

Will and I spent a week in Colorado with Joe and Cynthia. We went out on Amtrak’s California Zephyr where we foolishly tried to sleep on their “comfortable” seats. We had a great breakfast in the dining car with Pharmacist Rich from Wisner and his friend Bob.

We had a nice week in Colorado. We caught a Rockies game where they beat the Dodgers. We rode tubes down Boulder Creek and soaked in Pearl Street while we were there. We spent a lot of time in downtown Denver, mostly at the Tattered Cover.

We drove up to Copper Mountain where the Colorado State Patrol nailed me for speeding on the downhill side, forcing us to use our motel money to pay for the speeding ticket. We took the ski lift up the mountain for a nice hike and enjoyed the view.

Beautiful trip and Joe and Cynthia were gracious hosts, as always.

Will’s stalker

April 8, 2007

Update to Changing Times

Will and Dane went skating and Will met his stalker at the rink. During the couple’s skate, however, Will strategically ordered some popcorn chicken, thereby rendering him “unavailable” for the couple’s skate.

Apparently she was persistent because he also had a pop, a pretzel with cheese and a hot dog.

Smart kid. His arteries are paying the price, but smart kid.

She is still calling the house several times a night. We may have to invest in Caller ID.

Who said that?

Changing times

I thought I was hearing things at first but as Will read the part of God at last night’s Good Friday service at church, it was painfully clear. Will’s voice has changed.

I thought it would be like Peter Brady on the Brady Bunch, kind of a gradual thing. But it took only a week or so for Will’s voice to change. I think he’s still working out some of the kinks, at times you hear his old voice, then at times you hear this new voice that doesn’t sound quite right yet.

A double whammy

Will is growing up fast and he got a double dose of reality this week. Not only has his voice grown deeper, but on Thursday a girl called him.

You could tell that, at first, Will was pretty excited. She wanted Will go to a skating party, so Will invited a friend and they’re planning to go to the party. Undoubtedly Will will have a person to skate with during the pair skating.

Then again …

This girl has proceeded to call Will several times throughout the day (the kids didn’t have school on Friday). She even called after 11:00 last night. Will doesn’t enjoy talking on the phone and I think he’s beginning to feel like he’s being stalked.

All in all, this might not be a bad lesson for Will to learn. Sometimes girls’ expectations are different than boys’ expectations. And by “sometimes” I mean “always.”

It’s good he’s learning this now. That and the proper steps to obtaining a restraining order.

Nacho Willbre

A true superhero never reveals his identity but you may be able to guess who is behind this mask. The question is, is the masked man:

Nacho Libre1
Nachoe Libre?

Nacho Willbre
Or Nacho Willbre?

You be the judge.
